11:1Then Jehovah said to Moses, One more plague will I bring upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt; after that he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out from here completely. Compare
11:2Speak now in the hearing of the people that each man is to ask of his neighbor and each woman of her neighbor for articles of silver and articles of gold. Compare
11:3And Jehovah gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants and in the sight of the people. Compare
11:4And Moses said, Thus says Jehovah, About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt, Compare
11:5And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits upon his throne to the firstborn of the female slave who is behind the millstones, and all the firstborn of cattle. Compare
11:6And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as has not been or ever will be again. Compare
11:7But a dog shall not bark at any of the children of Israel, at man or beast, that you may know that Jehovah makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel. Compare
11:8And all these servants of yours shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, Get out, you and all the people who follow you; and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger. Compare
11:9Then Jehovah said to Moses, Pharaoh will not listen to you, in order that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt. Compare
11:10Thus Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, but Jehovah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go out of his land. Compare
12:1Then Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, Compare
12:2This month will be the beginning of months for you; it shall be the first of the months of the year to you. Compare
12:3Speak to all the assembly of Israel, saying, On the tenth of this month each man shall take a lamb according to his fathers' house, a lamb for a household. Compare
12:4And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his neighbor next to his house shall take one according to the number of the persons in the houses; according to each man's eating you shall make your count for the lamb. Compare
12:5Your lamb shall be without blemish, a year-old male; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Compare
12:6And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; then the whole congregation of the assembly of Israel shall kill it at twilight. Compare
12:7And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. Compare
12:8And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with unleavened bread with bitter herbs. Compare
12:9Do not eat any of it raw or boiled at all with water, but roasted with fire-its head with its legs and with its inward parts. Compare
12:10And you shall not let any of it remain until the morning, but any of it that remains until the morning you shall burn with fire. Compare
12:11And this is how you shall eat it: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste. It is Jehovah's passover. Compare
12:12For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast. Also against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments. I am Jehovah. Compare
12:13And the blood shall be a sign for you upon the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and there will be no plague upon you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. Compare
12:14And this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall keep it as a feast to Jehovah; throughout your generations as a perpetual statute you shall keep it as a feast. Compare
12:15Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread; on the first day you shall remove leaven out of your houses, for whoever eats anything leavened from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel. Compare
12:16And on the first day you shall have a holy convocation, and on the seventh day a holy convocation. No work at all shall be done on them, except to prepare what every person will eat; that alone may be done by you. Compare
12:17And you shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this very day I have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt; therefore you shall keep this day throughout your generations as a perpetual statute. Compare
12:18In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month in the evening. Compare
12:19For seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses. For whoever eats what is leavened, that person shall be cut off from the assembly of Israel, whether a sojourner or a native of the land. Compare
12:20You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwelling places you shall eat unleavened bread. Compare
12:21Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, Draw out and take lambs according to your families, and slaughter the passover. Compare
12:22And you shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and you shall apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and to the two doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the entrance of his house until the morning. Compare
12:23For Jehovah will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood upon the lintel and on the two doorposts, Jehovah will pass over the entrance and will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to smite you. Compare
12:24And you shall observe this matter as a statute for you and for your sons in perpetuity. Compare
12:25And when you come to the land which Jehovah will give you, as He has promised, you shall observe this service. Compare
12:26And when your children say to you, What do you mean by this service? Compare
12:27You shall say, It is the passover sacrifice to Jehovah, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians and delivered our houses. And the people bowed and worshipped. Compare
12:28And the children of Israel went and did so; just as Jehovah had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did. Compare
12:29And at midnight Jehovah struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle. Compare
12:30And Pharaoh arose in the night, he and all his servants and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was no house where there was not someone dead. Compare
12:31And he called for Moses and Aaron in the night and said, Rise up, go out from the midst of my people, both you and the children of Israel; and go, serve Jehovah, as you have said. Compare
12:32Take both your flocks and your herds, as you have said; and go and bless me also. Compare
12:33And the Egyptians urged the people on, so as to hasten their departure out of the land, for they said, All of us will be dead. Compare
12:34And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading bowls being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders. Compare
12:35And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses, and they asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and for clothing. Compare
12:36And Jehovah gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians. Compare
12:37And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children. Compare
12:38And a mixed multitude went up also with them, as well as flocks and herds, a very large number of livestock. Compare
12:39And they baked the dough which they brought out of Egypt into unleavened cakes, for it had not been leavened because they were driven out of Egypt and could not delay; nor had they prepared for themselves any provisions. Compare
12:40Now the time of the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred thirty years. Compare
12:41And at the end of four hundred thirty years, on that very day, all the armies of Jehovah went out from the land of Egypt. Compare
12:42It was for Jehovah a night of watching, to bring them out from the land of Egypt. That same night is a night of watching to Jehovah for all the children of Israel throughout their generations. Compare
12:43And Jehovah said to Moses and Aaron, This is the statute of the passover: No foreigner shall eat of it. Compare
12:44However, any man's servant who is bought with money, when you have circumcised him, then he shall eat of it. Compare
12:45A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat of it. Compare
12:46It shall be eaten in one house. You shall not take any of the flesh outside the house, nor shall you break any of its bones. Compare
12:47All the assembly of Israel shall keep it. Compare
12:48But if a stranger sojourns with you and will observe the Passover to Jehovah, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near to observe it; and he will be like one who is a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person shall eat of it. Compare
12:49One law shall be for the native and for the stranger who sojourns among you. Compare
12:50And all the children of Israel did so; just as Jehovah commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did. Compare
12:51And on that very day Jehovah brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies. Compare
13:1Then Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, Compare
13:2Sanctify to Me all the firstborn: Whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast, it is Mine. Compare
13:3And Moses said to the people, Remember this day on which you came out from Egypt, from the slave house, for by strength of hand Jehovah brought you out from this place; and nothing leavened shall be eaten. Compare
13:4On this day in the month of Abib you are going out. Compare
13:5And when Jehovah brings you into the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you shall observe this service in this month: Compare
13:6Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to Jehovah. Compare
13:7Unleavened bread shall be eaten throughout the seven days, and nothing leavened shall be seen with you, nor shall any leaven be seen with you in all your territory. Compare
13:8And you shall tell your son in that day, saying, It is because of what Jehovah did for me when I came out of Egypt. Compare
13:9And it shall be for a sign to you upon your hand and for a memorial between your eyes, that the law of Jehovah may be in your mouth; for with a mighty hand Jehovah brought you out of Egypt. Compare
13:10You shall therefore keep this statute at its appointed time from year to year. Compare
13:11And when Jehovah brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as He swore to you and to your fathers, and gives it to you, Compare
13:12You shall set apart to Jehovah everything that opens the womb and the first offspring of every beast which is yours; the males shall be Jehovah's. Compare
13:13And every first offspring of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you do not redeem it, you shall break its neck. And every firstborn male among your sons you shall redeem. Compare
13:14And when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What is this? you shall say to him, By strength of hand Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, from the slave house. Compare
13:15And when Pharaoh hardened himself against letting us go, Jehovah slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore I am one who sacrifices to Jehovah every male that opens the womb; and all the firstborn of my sons I redeem. Compare
13:16So it will be as a sign upon your hand and as frontlets between your eyes, for by strength of hand Jehovah brought us out of Egypt. Compare
13:17Now when Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Perhaps the people will change their minds when they see war and will return to Egypt. Compare
13:18Thus God led the people around by the way of the wilderness to the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up arrayed for battle out of the land of Egypt. Compare
13:19And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for Joseph had made the children of Israel solemnly swear, saying, God will surely visit you, and you shall bring my bones up from here with you. Compare
13:20And they journeyed from Succoth and encamped in Etham on the edge of the wilderness. Compare
13:21And Jehovah went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them on the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might go by day and by night. Compare
13:22Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night departed from before the people. Compare
