16:19But when her masters saw that their hope of profit had gone out, they laid hold of Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers. Compare
16:20And when they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, These men, being Jews, are throwing our city into confusion, Compare
16:21And they are announcing customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to accept or do. Compare
16:22And the crowd rose up together against them, and the magistrates tore off their garments and ordered some to beat them with rods. Compare
16:23And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them securely, Compare
16:24Who, having received such a charge, threw them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the stocks. Compare
16:25And about midnight Paul and Silas, while praying, sang hymns of praise to God; and the prisoners were listening to them. Compare
16:26And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken. And instantly all the doors were opened and everyone's bonds were unfastened. Compare
16:27And the jailer, waking up out of his sleep and seeing the doors of the prison opened, drew his sword and was about to do away with himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. Compare
16:28But Paul called out with a loud voice, saying, Do no harm to yourself, for we are all here. Compare
16:29And the jailer asked for lights and rushed in; and trembling, he fell down before Paul and Silas. Compare
16:30And leading them outside, he said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? Compare
16:31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved, you and your household. Compare
16:32And they spoke the word of God to him together with all those in his house. Compare
16:33And he took them with him in that very hour of the night and washed their wounds. And he was baptized immediately, he and all his household. Compare
16:34And he brought them up into his house and set a table before them; and he exulted because he had believed in God with all his household. Compare
16:35Now when day came, the magistrates sent the lictors, saying, Release those men. Compare
16:36And the jailer reported these words to Paul: The magistrates have sent that you may be released. Now therefore come out and go in peace. Compare
16:37But Paul said to them, They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Romans, and have thrown us into prison; and now secretly they are thrusting us out? No indeed! But let them come themselves and bring us out. Compare
16:38And the lictors reported these words to the magistrates. And they became frightened when they heard that they were Romans. Compare
16:39And they came and entreated them. And when they had brought them out, they asked them to depart from the city. Compare
16:40And they went out from the prison and entered the house of Lydia; and when they saw the brothers, they exhorted them and went forth. Compare
