39:1I said, I will keep my ways, / So that I do not sin with my tongue; / I will keep a muzzle on my mouth / When the wicked are before me. Compare
39:2I was dumb and silent; / I held my peace, even from good; / And my pain was stirred up. Compare
39:3My heart was hot within me; / While I mused, the fire burned; / I spoke with my tongue: Compare
39:4O Jehovah, cause me to know my end, / And the measure of my days, what it is. / May I know how transient I am. Compare
39:5Behold, You have made my days as mere handbreadths, / And my lifetime is as nothing before You; / Surely every man at his best is altogether vanity. Selah. Compare
39:6Surely man goes about as a semblance; / Surely they bustle about in vain: / He heaps up riches yet knows not / Who will gather them. Compare
39:7And now what am I waiting for, O Lord? / My hope - it is in You. Compare
39:8Deliver me from all my transgressions; / Do not make me the fool's reproach. Compare
39:9I was dumb; I did not open my mouth; / For You have done this. Compare
39:10Remove Your plague from me; / By the hostility of Your hand I am consumed. Compare
39:11With rebukes You chasten a man because of iniquity, / And cause what is desirous to him to disappear like a moth. / Surely every man is vanity. Selah. Compare
39:12Hear my prayer, O Jehovah; / And give ear to my cry; / Do not hold Your peace at my tears. / For I am a stranger with You, / A sojourner, as all my fathers were. Compare

40:1I waited patiently on Jehovah, / And He inclined to me / And heard my cry. Compare
40:2Then He brought me up out of a pit of destruction, / Out of the miry clay; / And He set my feet upon a rock, / Establishing my steps. Compare
40:3Then He put a new song in my mouth, / A praise to our God. / Many see it and fear, / And they trust in Jehovah. Compare
40:4Blessed is the man / Who makes Jehovah his trust / And does not turn to the proud / Or to those who turn aside after deception. Compare
40:5Many, O Jehovah my God, are the wonderful deeds which You have done / And Your thoughts toward us; / They cannot be set in order unto You. / Were I to declare and speak of them, / They would be too numerous to recount. Compare
40:6You do not delight in sacrifice and offering; / You have prepared ears for Me; / You do not require burnt offering and sin offering. Compare
40:7Then I said, / Behold, I have come; / In the scroll of the book / It is written concerning Me. Compare
40:8I delight in doing Your will, O My God; / Indeed Your law is within My inward parts. Compare
40:9I bear tidings of righteousness / In the great congregation. / Behold, I will not withhold My lips; / O Jehovah, You know. Compare
40:10I have not hidden Your righteousness / Within My heart; / I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; / I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great / congregation. Compare
40:11You, O Jehovah, do not withhold / Your compassions from me; / May Your lovingkindness and Your truth / Preserve me continually. Compare
40:12For evils encompass me until they cannot be counted; / My iniquities have so overtaken me / That I cannot see; / They are more numerous than the hairs of my head; / Thus my heart fails me. Compare
40:13Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me; / O Jehovah, hasten to help me. Compare
40:14May those who seek my life to destroy it / Be put to shame and confounded together; / May those who take delight in my misfortune / Be turned back and humiliated. Compare
40:15May those who say to me, Aha! Aha! / Be desolate because of their shame. Compare
40:16May all those who seek You / Be glad and rejoice in You; / May those who love Your salvation say continually, / May Jehovah be magnified! Compare
40:17But I am poor and needy; / May the Lord think about me. / You are my help and my Deliverer; / O my God, do not delay. Compare

41:1Blessed is he who considers the poor; / In the day of evil Jehovah will deliver him. Compare
41:2May Jehovah keep him and preserve him alive; / May he be blessed in the land; / And do not give him over to the will of his enemies. Compare
41:3Jehovah will sustain him on his sickbed; / You make all his bed in his illness. Compare
41:4I said, O Jehovah, be gracious to me; / Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You. Compare
41:5My enemies speak evil against me: / When will he die and his name perish? Compare
41:6And if he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood. / His heart gathers iniquity to itself; / When he goes out, he speaks it. Compare
41:7All who hate me whisper together against me; / Against me they devise my misfortune. Compare
41:8Some evil illness, they say, has been poured out on him; / And when he lies down, he will not rise again. Compare
41:9Even my familiar friend, in whom I trusted, / Who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me. Compare
41:10But You, O Jehovah, be gracious to me and raise me up / That I may recompense them. Compare
41:11By this I know that You delight in me, / That my enemy has not shouted in triumph over me. Compare
41:12And as for me, You uphold me in my integrity, / And You set me in Your presence forever. Compare
41:13Blessed be Jehovah the God of Israel, / From eternity to eternity. / Amen and Amen. Compare
